The Folk Song Project is well underway.
We are working with three primary schools local to the Museum to produce a new Jetty-inspired folk song.
Pupils have been working with folk musicians Sam Partridge and Grace Smith to find out about parts of the collection.
They then began to write their verses to tell those stories.
Sam and Grace (pictured above) have used an old Cumbrian folk song as their base, reworking the tune of ‘Windermere Regatta’ to create something unique for the new Museum.
Year 3 & 4 children have chosen Sir Henry Segrave, Steam Launch Dolly, Steam Launch Branksome, Arthur Ransome and his Swallows and Amazons to sing about.
Once the verse writing is complete we’ll be back to record their work ahead of their performance for one of Windermere Jetty’s opening events.
