Windermere Jetty | Build the Museum

Build the Museum

With your support, we have successfully raised an incredible £16 million to get the Windermere Jetty project this far. We are close to our target but still need to raise £250,000 to fill the gap and build the Museum.

A donation to the Build the Museum campaign or Jetty Appeal will help us to build the museum, conserve the unique collection of historical boats, and offer new opportunities for people to experience and learn about the collection.

How to give
Donate now by either downloading the donation form or telephoning 015394 46139 to make a donation by credit/debit card (please quote “Windermere Jetty Capital Campaign” when making your donation.

For more information please contact Charlotte Upton, Project Manager at cupton@lakelandarts.org.uk / 015394 46139

Your donation will help us create a new world-class museum for Cumbria in the heart of the Lake District, to display the internationally significant collection, connecting boats, people and stories. The new museum will include the Boathouse where visitors will see boats on the water; a large exhibition gallery showing boats from the collection and telling the stories of the people who built the boats, who used them and how they were used; an active conservation workshop where visitors will see boats being restored, meet the team and learn about conservation.

A dedicated learning space will support a wide range of activities and events for local people and visitors to participate in. New jetties will connect people to the lake enabling visitors to arrive by boat or take a trip on a historic launch whilst the lake side café will provide exceptional lake views. Visitors will also be able to explore the lakeshore and its ecology.

Windermere Jetty will create employment including apprenticeships for young people and offer opportunities for volunteers to get involved in the museum.

Whatever the size of your donation you will have played a vital role in the story of the museum.
